Between the two buildings is a fountain that is fed by a natural spring via an underground passage. In turn, its waters feed the pools once used to cleanse clothes and bed linens.
The fountain's plans included a stature of Saint Victor at its summit. This was not added until 1889 after a first accident cut the original statue to a bust.

This bad luck followed the statue to modern times since, after gracing the fountain for over a century, it has now disappeared.
