Saint Victor la Coste offers a heritage unique in its integrity and wealth. Although prehistoric sites are few, the territory is dotted by artifacts of the Roman period. |

But the most obvious and extensive remains date from the Middle Ages. Saint Victor la Coste is one of the rare villages of the region where one can visit the complete structure of the medieval site. The impressive ruins of the castle still watch over the long lines of fortifications, the network of old village paths, and the old quarters that sit snugly behind a last line of ramparts. |

In the old village site, the narrow cobbles streets lead between facades that tell of many centuries of rebuilding and renovation from medieval times up through the Renaissance. |

Farther below, several old quarters where the inhabitants spread out from the old village walls cover the slopes of the hill before it reaches the agricultural plain. |

Religious heritage is present in the Romanesque chapels and hermitage, and also in the large church that was built against the village rampart.
In the 19th century, the village expanded, and new construction filled the areas between the older quarters with imposing structures such as the town hall. |
